Back to Kashgar
Well, heading to Kashgar in an hour. It will be my third time there! Picked up my visa for Kyrgyzstan this morning here in Urumqi. 952RMB - a bit pricey but 2 days is good turnaround time. Had a bit of a wait this morning, as they don’t publish their office hours but a Chinese guy pointed me in the right direction.
Went out to a Japanese restaurant - Hiramasa - last night. They have a large library of Japanese books, and we met a couple of Japanese students who are studying in Urumqi. Had okonomiyaki and tempura - it has been a long time since I tasted fine Kansai cuisine. The owner, who is a Japanese guy gave us some postcards so if we have some time over the next week or so we will try to send some off. Things have been pretty flat out so probably not till we reach Bishkek will we have time. Will take maybe a week long course in the Kyrgyz language there. Kyrgyz is close to Uighur so I should be able to communicate at a basic level there anyway.
Will try to upload some photos when we get to Kashgar.
