Ladies in Lavender
There is a cutesy little story over at mainichi news covering the premier of Ladies in Lavender in Japan.
Ladies in Lavender is a British film (released overseas in 2004) that has just opened in Japan. It is the story of a mysterious man washed up on the shores of Cornwall in the 1930′s. The man can neither speak English nor easily inculculate himself in the insular rural Britain of the period but he is a master of the violin. The film centers around his growing relationship with two aging spinsters.
Parallels between the Polish violinist and ‘the Piano Man’ were made by the Kano sisters who were bedecked in lavender for the event.
