Long time!
Sorry I haven’t posted for a while. Have been busy with the effects pedals, and most of my energy has been focused on that. Life in Japan keeps on rolling! We finished our first month of trading with a small profit, which is quite promising. One hears a lot of stories of people who start businesses, work really hard, only to not see any tangible results. Of course most of the stories one hears about are for IT related start ups, and while IT is important to us, it is not the core focus of our business.
Certainly without the open source movement we would not have been able to achieve what we have in such a short period of time, but the most important thing has been to mitigate risk. If your business expands too quickly then it probably will fail. The old, tried and trusted logic of insuring a positive cash flow is so important, and we are lucky to be working in a field where that is possible.
To be honest, given the age we live in, what we are doing now could be done from anywhere in the world. Did think about ,moving to New Zealand where the food is great and there is cricket on TV, but the cost of living is too high… As for this blog, which is ostensibly titled a kiwi in japan - who knows? What would you like to see / read about?
