Maiyahi- is dead
Love it or hate it, Romanian boy-wonder-band Ozones Dragostea Din Tei, more commonly known as Numa Numa in the west, and known as Maiyahi- in Japan, was an amazing example of viral marketing. It took off in Japan through sites like the infamous 2-channel and internationally spawned a range of spin-offs and karaoke flash videos which did the rounds on a large number of bulletion boards here in Japan. I even had it as the ring tone for my cellphone.

It all started with a 19 year old American lads lyp-synching flash movie. Absolutely amazing how one guy with a webcamera and some foxy moves could make his way into millions of homes.
