A Kiwi-Japanese family's adventures down under

Marmite Marmaris

Finally after 9 months went swimming yesterday. Pretty chilly but nice to taste salt water and have a little play in the water after such a long time. I guess Kiwis are sea mammals after all.

We are now in the town of Marmaris on the south-western coast of Turkey near the Greek island of Rhodes. Marmaris is a postmodern affair, full of the English, bacon and chips for breakfast, flaunting porcine bodies on the local beaches. It reminds me of Thailand…

Staying at a bed&breakfast run by a retired couple from Manchester. Great to hear their accents in a place like this. And they served up a huge pile of toast this morning – so I was able to gorge myself on marmite toast (thanks Rach).

We will head out soon to find a quieter place on the beach somewhere. Picked up a tent in Istanbul cheaply so now we are a little more mobile.
