Phisher busted in Japan

Chooch just saw a story on the news that said that a man in Nagoya has been arrested for a phishing scam – a first for Japan.

The man had registered the yafoo.com domain (if I have my facts right:) ) and was skimming peoples login and credit card details. It might look obvious but a large number of people fell for it.

Japanese is a syllabic (sound group) language, unlike English which a is phonetic (sounds) language. And the fu sound is in the middle of the h- group – ha, hi, fu, he, ho. Looks different to us, but to a lot of Japanese who don’t use English that much hu and fu are interchangeable.

A quick web search hasnt turned up any links to this, will check again later and add them if I find them.
