Xinjiang population tops 20 million
Xinjiang has 20m by Zhang Shunyi — THE resident population of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region totaled 20.10 million by last November, an increase of 1.62 million, or 8.79 percent more than five years earlier. That is one sixth the population of Japan or four times New Zealand’s population. Han Chinese now make up almost 40% of the people in Xinjiang.
